Printed in Magdeburg in 1939, this illustrated 85 year old Thuringia map and tourist brochure is complete but shows wear as is obvious in our pictures. No odor.

Completely unfolded it measures 16-3/8 x 23-1/2 inches and the colorful map decorated with a Nazi postal bus in the upper left hand corner and hiking Hitler Youth boys in the lower left corner shows the area which includes cities like Eisenach, Jena, Weimar and Erfurt. However, it also includes smaller towns like Ohrdruf, Kyffhausen, Rudolstadt, Gotha, Apolda, Hof as well as Suhl and Zella-Mehlis, home of the Waffenfabrik Walther. Note the rifles at Suhl in the picture on the right, referring to the Sauer & Sohn rifle factory.

According to this two-sided Third Reich tourist brochure, travel by Kraftpost was a good addition to the railway network in Germany, and made it possible to reach more rural areas in Nazi Germany by using red postal busses.

This is an original 1939 Mit der Reichspost durch Deutschland brochure for the area in eastern Nazi Germany called Thuringen or Thuringia.

The text on the reverse side has information about tourist attractions and worthwhile things to see and do, as well as handy information about traveling by “modern, comfortable and safe” postal bus. Schedules and maps were posted at any post office, where tickets could be purchased as well. This brochure also has black & white pictures of castles, churches and pretty scenery in Thuringia.
