This is a fine original 33-½ x 43-¼ inch 1944 dated postal district map of Greater Germany from its border with Holland and France in the west to East Prussia and Ukraine in the east. It includes Alsace, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, the Generalgouvernement and Czechoslovakia (Sudetenland, Ost-Sudetenland, and the Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren) as being within the German postal system.
This rare one-sided full-color lithographed Third Reich Postleitgebietskarte is dated 8/44 in the lower right-hand corner. It shows borders of the numbered postal zones, main cities and post offices in each Postleitgebiet, as well as NSDAP Gau capitals and borders. The scale is 1:1500 000.
This 80+ year old Nazi map was produced by the Reichspostzentralamt - Fachamt für Postwesen (the Central Administrative Bureau of the Deutsche Reichspost - Postal System Department) and printed in Berlin. It is in very good condition, brightly colored, neatly folded, no tape, no pin holes, no writing, no odor.
