The first headset or pair of earphones offered here is a heavy high-quality metal and bakelite set manufactured by N & K, Neufeldt & Kuhnke in Kiel, Germany, most likely for the Kriegsmarine in the late 1930s. The adjustable metal brackets that hold the earphones are covered with heavy leather where they cross the wearer’s head.

Stamped on the back of each ear piece is the name of the manufacturer and the specification 2000 Ohm.

The distance from the phones to the Y in the original cord is 12 inches, and from the Y to the plugs is about 14 inches. The end of the cord was probably shortened. These are very similar to the ones shown on the head of the sailor in the picture on the right.

The second headset offered here is lighter in weight and consists of all bakelite ear phones held in very well-made adjustable metal and leather-covered metal brackets.

The back of the bakelite ear pieces are marked with the name SUPERPHONE and the specification 4000 &Mac189;.

The distance from the phones to the Y in the original cord is about 12 inches, and from the Y to the plugs is about 14 feet.

These are very similar to the ones shown above, in use by the Hitler Youth radio student.
