This is rare Third Reich advertising for Radio-Telegramm or Funktelegramm handed out to passengers on KdF cruises. “Sharing vacation joy” with family, friends and Arbeitskameraden (colleagues) is the message in this four-panel 5-5/8 x 4-1/8 inch color flyer. It contains instructions and cost for these Radio-Telegramm as well as advertising for Schmuckblattelegramm of the Deutsche Reichspost. Both could be purchased and sent from the onboard radio office.
The reference picture shown right is from the 1936 KdF cruise book Der Sonne Entgegen! Deutsche Arbeiter fahren auf Madeira (Towards The Sun! German Workers Cruise to Madeira) and shows a Radio-Telegramm.
This rare piece of Third Reich ephemera was carefully saved by a KdF vacationer on the Norddeutsche Lloyd twin screw steamship Sierra Cordoba and is in excellent condition. Bright colors, no tears or writing. We have never seen another one.
