Das danken wir dem Führer! (For this we can thank the Führer!) is a very interesting, very heavily illustrated 32-page booklet from 1938 that presents many of the accomplishments of Führer Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany in the most positive manner. The country is depicted as revitalized, busy and working since the elections in 1933.

This 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch very heavily illustrated 32-page softcover starts with a February 1938 Adolf Hitler quotation that urges the German people to review the historic accomplishments by him and his National Socialist fellow-workers during the last five years.

Covered in text, statistics and illustrations are the increased birthrate as a result of a much higher number of marriages in Germany since 1933, a stable currency, increased industrial and agricultural output, much less unemployment, improved working conditions for average Germans, an increase in home and car ownership, travel opportunities for average German citizens - increased opportunity and prosperity for all.

This rare 86 year old publication was clearly set aside by someone who recognized its historic value and appreciated its interesting illustrations. It is complete, only lightly used and in very good condition. No odor.

The last two pages of Das danken wir dem Führer! has text directly targeting Austrians and their upcoming referendum about reunification of Austria with Hitler’s Nazi Germany. There is nothing negative in this publication about Germany or the prospects for Austrian reunification with Germany. The publication was certainly effective as over 95% of eligible Austrians voted and 99% of them voted Ja! (Yes) for the Anschluss or reunification with Germany. Austria and its people became a small part of Hitler's Greater German Reich by their own choice and Vienna became the second largest city of Großdeutschland.
