This is a First American Edition of Hitler over Europe by Ernst Henri, the alias of Russian journalist Simon Nikolayevich Rostowski who spent the war years in London as the Editor of Soviet War News which was published in conjunction with the Soviet Embassy.

In the foreword the author explains the purpose of this book, “to show the actual laws of motion, the dynamic of that force which last year arose in Central Europe as if in an explosion, casting more and more of its shadow across the whole of Continental Europe”, as well as shine a light “behind the scenes of Hitlerism” and the “inner motors of the Nazi Movement”.

The two main sections in this book are called The Power Behind Hitler and Where is Hitler Going? and cover the Thyssen Plot, the effect of National Socialism on the middle class of Nazi Germany, the influence of Hermann Göring, the working class and unemployment, German industrialists’ support for Hitler, the racial plans of Alfred Rosenberg, fascist movements outside Germany, and more.

The 8-¼ x 5-½ inch and 1-¼ inch thick linen hardcover book has a map of the Rosenberg Plan (Nazi Germanic Union) and the end papers show Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Joseph Goebbels, Alfred Rosenberg, Hjalmar Schacht, famous German industrialist Fritz Thyssen and Rudolf Hess (labeled as Ernst Röhm!).

Published by Simon and Schuster in New York in 1934, Hitler over Europe was printed and bound in the USA. This 90 year old example is in nice used condition with a tight spine and no odor. The covers are stained but otherwise in good condition.
