This is a wonderful old lot of NINE separate items of original Third Reich German railway material from the estate of a man who rose through the upper ranks of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in Wien, the second largest city in the Großdeutschland of Adolf Hitler.
If you are a qualified buyer and wish to identify yourself to us and let us know about any other pictures you'd like to see, we will be happy to e-mail them to you privately. Very fine condition.
The lot consists of (1) a very fine example of a rare Carl Eickhorn Solingen made Model 1938 Nazi Railway Leaders dagger. As far as we can tell the black-handled dagger has never been cleaned, is precisely correct in size and weight and has an overall light golden patina on the external parts (not on the blade). The dagger has never been dropped, dinged, dented or touched by any of the modern Nazi dagger repair people who advertise their services at all the big militaria shows. In fact, this dagger hasn't been at a MAX Show or any militaria show in the United States or in Europe.
We could go on with endless verbiage about the quality of this piece as is typical of the big and very well-known Nazi dagger sellers on the internet as they try to justify high prices, but we honestly don't think that would add anything to the dagger itself. You should be able to see it and evaluate it well from the photos on this web page.
(2) A gold embossed thick cream colored 10-1/4 x 14-1/4 inch Mappe or document folder containing the promotion document for Adolf Trimmel advancing him from Oberreichsbahnrat to Reichsbahndirektor. Hitler promoted Trimmel "In the Name of the German People" and the promotion made it plain that he was expected to fulfill his duties loyally and thereby justify the trust placed in him. It says that in return Trimmel could count on Hitler's special personal protection.
(3) A cream colored 8-¼ x 11-¾ inch document awarding Oberbaurat Ingenieur Adolf Trimmel the Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938, the Nazi medal issued to commemorate the reunification of Austria with the German Reich. The award certificate is dated Berlin 23 January 1939 and has a Staatsminister Meissner facsimile signature to the right of his 1-3/8 inch Staatsminister und Chef der Präsidialkanzlei des Führers und Reichskanzlers embossed eagle and swastika seal in the lower left corner. Very good condition. We do not have the medal that once came with this certificate.
(4) A cream colored 8-¼ x 11-¾ inch document awarding Oberreichsbahnrat Adolf Trimmel the Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938, the Nazi medal issued to commemorate the reunification of the Sudeten German area with the German Reich. The award certificate is dated Berlin 21 November 1939 with a Meissner facsimile signature to the right of his 1-3/8 inch Staatsminister und Chef der Präsidialkanzlei des Führers und Reichskanzlers embossed eagle and swastika seal in the lower left corner. (5) The 1-¼ inch bronze medal on its original 2-inch long ribbon comes with the certificate. Very good condition.
(6) A cream colored 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 inch document awarding Reichsbahndirektor Adolf Trimmel the Silberne Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen, the Nazi medal issued to recognize his 25 years of faithful service. This medal award certificate is dated Berlin 28 July 1942 with a Meissner facsimile signature to the right of his 1-3/8 inch Staatsminister und Chef der Präsidialkanzlei des Führers und Reichskanzlers embossed eagle and swastika seal in the lower left corner.
(7) The 1-5/8 inch silver cross medal on its original 1-7/8 inch long ribbon comes with the certificate. Nice bright and frosted silver cross, very good condition.
(8) A cream colored 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 inch document awarding Reichsbahndirektor Adolf Trimmel in Wien the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse, or War Merit Cross Second Class "In the Name of the German People" by the Führer, Adolf Hitler. Issued in Berlin on 30 January 1943, the document was made with facsimile Adolf Hitler and Otto Meissner signatures and a large 3-1/8 inch Großes Reichssiegel or eagle and swastika Grand State Seal embossed in lower left corner.
(9) The 1-¼ inch bronze medal (shown above in the same photo with the Sudetenland medal) on its original evenly faded 3-½ inch long ribbon comes with the certificate. Very good condition. This medal clearly meant something to Trimmel and the fading of the ribbon would suggest he apparently displayed it proudly.
The 20 x 14 inch (folded once vertically in the middle to 10 x 14 inches) document has a blue facsimile of Hitler's signature and the very rare hand-signed signature of Reichsminister of Transportation and General Director of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, Julius Dorpmüller.
One of the very best original model 1938 Nazi Railway daggers anywhere along with the Nazi promotion document in its original Mappe, and four medal documents with three of the four original Third Reich medals. Only the March 1938 Austria medal is missing from this remarkable lot, all in the name of a single Nazi Reichsbahndirektor.
The promotion document was issued at Adolf Hitler's Führerhauptquartier in East Prussia on 22 May 1941 and has a large 3-1/8 inch Großes Reichssiegel or eagle and swastika Grand State Seal embossed in the lower left corner. Very good condition.
