This is a rare Third Reich in-house Deutsche Lufthansa (the German national airlines) publication containing analysis of the characteristics of the Junkers Ju 52 airplane specifically addressing its redevelopment for use in commercial aviation.
The photos of the Junkers Ju 52 directly above and below are for reference only.
According to the first line in this in-depth report, "significant progress was made during the last few years" in the process of changing the Ju52 from a military transport airplane for the Luftwaffe and Spanish Air Force to a civilian airliner.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG Wirtschaftliche Fluggestaltung Ju52 (Deutsche Lufthansa Commercial Characteristics Ju 52) measures 8-¼ x 11-½ inches, has 56 pages and the internal company designation of the softcover manual on page 1 is TE Trw.Abt..Je./L. While the manual is undated it is clearly from the Third Reich period as the price of fuel in many places is written in RM or Reichsmarks, the currency of Third Reich Germany.
Subjects covered are Ju 52 fuel usage at various altitudes, flying conditions, wind direction, distances and temperatures; weight; fuel cost as a percentage of the total operation cost; the air-cooled BMW 132 E engine; comparisons to the Douglas DC 2 in the USA; speed vs. passenger comfort, etc. Interspersed in the text are charts and graphs about these subjects.
The rare internal Lufthansa Ju52 report ends with a paragraph pointing out the need to continue comprehensive cooperation between research and development people and flight crews to ensure safety during the time of expansion of civilian air traffic.
No doubt published in very limited numbers, this Third Reich in-house Deutsche Lufthansa publication is in very good condition, and no offensive odor. Can't be many of these around!
