This is the new Volksausgabe of Die Hitler-Jugend Idee und Gestalt published by Koehler & Amelang in Leipzig in 1938. It is in very good condition with a handwritten dedication on the front flyleaf. It still contains some Third Reich advertising leaflets for other Hitler Youth books!

The title of this book, Die Hitler-Jugend Idee und Gestalt translates roughly as The Hitler Youth - From Idea to Results, and the names of the chapters highlight the content of this substantial Nazi publication by Hitler Youth Leader Baldur von Schirach: the Development of the HJ Movement, the HJ and Conventional Youth, Opponents of Yesterday, the Principle of Self-Leadership, the Organization as the Development of the Idea, das Deutsche Jungvolk, the BdM, HJ Schools, HJ Social Work, the HJ and the NSDAP, etc.

The 5-¼ x 7-½ inch, 242 page hardcover book starts with a message from Reichsjugendführer Baldur von Schirach to Adolf Hitler, thanking him for entrusting him with the task of leading and shaping the youth of Nazi Germany: "You requested from my colleagues and me that we educate and instill in the youth of today only that their achievements would build the future of Germany."

The last chapter contains six speeches by Adolf Hitler to members of the Hitlerjugend. The book ends with many graphics and a 16 inch long fold-out chart showing the structure of the Hitlerjugend from the Hitler Youth Leadership of Von Schirach at the top down to the smallest HJ cell.

Also many statistics about the healthcare policy of the HJ, increased schooling and sport opportunities for HJ boys and BdM girls, the cooperation of the HJ with the NSV regarding Kinderlandverschickung (KLV, children being evacuated from big cities to the countryside), the increased numbers of Youth Hostels In Nazi Germany, etc.
